water ingress issues  <\/h5>\n\n\n\n

There are  continuing issues  with water ingress suffered between flats-  often this is caused by lack of maintenance to shower and bath areas where sealant often needs replacing.  It is also important to ensure that you- or your tenant is fully aware  of the location of the stop tap for the property to enable the water to be turned off in an emergency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Water ingress in flats is one of the biggest costs suffered in service charges  to resolve and results in many insurance claims being raised – which in turn affects  an increase in premiums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please read the below guidance  for safety at your property<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Check your Christmas tree lights carry the British Safety Standard sign.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Never place candles near your Christmas tree or materials that can catch light easily.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Test your smoke alarms at least monthly and only remove batteries when replacing them.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most fires start in the kitchen. Avoid leaving a cooker unattended.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Avoid cooking when under the influence of alcohol.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Make sure your family and visitors know how to escape in an emergency.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Make sure cigarettes are put out properly.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Decorations can burn easily \u2013 so don\u2019t attach them to lights or heaters.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keep candles, lighters and matches out of children\u2019s reach. Never leave burning candles unattended.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Never overload electrical sockets. Always switch Christmas lights off and unplug them before you go to bed.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Store fireworks safely. Never go back to a lit firework and keep a bucket of water nearby.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Take care around open fireplaces as clothes may catch fire.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Take time to check on older relatives and neighbours this Christmas as they are at greater risk from fire.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
